Not Quite Normal began as a jam session between two guitar players, Aaron Gabhart and Luke Cummins, in Aaron’s living room. After only a couple of jams, Aaron and Luke had written one song together called Turn. Several other songs, including Perfect, Call On You, and Always Forever, followed shortly thereafter. They were given the opportunity to record those four songs in the home studio of Phil Weisenberger for all the world to hear.

After the seemingly endless search for a bassist came to an end in the form of Jason Gaines, the battle for a full band would be fairly downhill. Shane Harrison was one of the first people to come and play with NQN, but in the end it didn’t work out due to long distance. Chip Mullins came on board and proceeded to work the rhythm section into good enough shape to allow NQN to play their first gig at the Java Shop in Georgetown.

After their first gig, Not Quite Normal experienced a new drive to bring the quality of their music up several notches. Some changes include more guitar playing and matching up vocal styling to individual songs. To help with the vocal aspect as well as helping to fill out the sound a little bit more, Julie Howard has come on board. She both sings and plays keyboard quite well, and will be a tremendous asset to the band and the music. Her husband Jeremy Howard has also joined the band as NQN’s new drummer.

This new lineup and renewed vigor will only result in good things coming from the band in the near future. As always we’re all looking forward to not only making good music better, but through all things we want to spread the message of Jesus and the word of God. Be looking for updates and shows in the upcoming months. God bless!
