Welcome to the
official site of Not Quite Normal! We're a Christian rock
band
based out of Georgetown, Kentucky. We've had
some big changes recently and we feel like we're a much better band
than ever before. We've been working our songs over for the
last few months and we feel like we're ready to come out and play for
you.
Not Quite Normal
is a group of five individuals who come together as a group to write
and play music that glorifies and blesses our God. In
everything
we play and the way we live, we try to honor Him. Each of us
has
a unique story and a very unique personality, hence the name.
Luke's wife
Bethany originally came up with the name to describe Luke and Aaron, as
they're very abnormal. Since the inception of the name,
several
other things have also come to light. The music that we play
is
not normal. Most bands have a particular style of music that
they
focus on. This is not the case with us. Our musical
influences as a group come from all over - classic rock, heavy metal,
punk, hair metal, musical performers, classical music, and everything
in between. As a result, our music spans the genres from
acoustic, to metal, to straight-up rock.
There's also a
reason that we embrace not being normal. In Acts chapter 17,
there's a passage where Paul is preaching in Athens. He's
trying
to find ways to relate to these people who have hundreds of gods that
rule over everything from farming, to the sun, to house
cleaning.
Paul notices while he's in Athens all the different shrines and altars
these Athenians have, and he sees one that's addressed to "An Unknown
God." He picks up on this, and goes on to explain to the
Athenians that this god they don't know about is actually his
God. He's the one who made everything, and He's the same one
who
wants to know you personally.
The Athenians
said, "You are saying some rather strange things, and we want to know
what it's all about." (Acts 17:20) So even Paul was
considered to be not quite normal. That's what we hope to
accomplish; we want to be able to let people know that there is a God,
and He loves you. He loves you right where you are.
He
loves you in spite of what you've done, no matter how bad you think
you've been. We're hoping to show everyone that through our
music. We come from all walks of life, and we sing about all
sorts of situations in our music. It's our hope that in our
music, you can find something to relate to, and realize that you aren't
alone.
